Students from Ms. Wolkoff's, Ms. Ratnoff's and Ms. Magliaro's classes visited the Center for Jewish History to view "Anne Frank The Exhibition." Their visit was part of an interdisciplinary project between English and Social Studies as a way to put into context what they learned in their Global History class and from reading the novel "Night."

Congratulations to Mrs. Ganes and her students on exhibiting their artwork at the Holocaust Museum and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove, NY! The exhibit titled “Lest We Forget: Stories of Hope Resistance and Survival, Retold Through Art." features twenty works by Mrs. Ganes and a collection of her students’ artwork from 2001-
the present. Several of Ganes’s students volunteered to participate in Adopt-A-Survivor, that was held at the Irving Roth Holocaust Center from 2001-2004. Inspired by conversations that they had with survivors whom they met in person, students had the opportunity to create artworks based on specific stories of survival. This year, Ms. Ganes brought back the Adopt-A -Survivor program to her students in Lawrence. In December, a group of diverse students from Hebrew Culture Club, Art , Global History, Creative Writing classes, and several from the cast of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” (that was performed last year at the high school), went on a special trip to the Irving Roth Holocaust Center. They were fortunate to listen to a first hand account from Holocaust survivor, Rosalie Simon. Motivated by Rosalie’s story, three seniors at Lawrence High School produced creative works in response to this powerful experience and others wrote poems and reflections. Students who have learned the story of a Holocaust survivor have become their witnesses and through these students their stories will live on.
