Today, Lawrence Primary School was excited to welcome our incoming first-grade students and their families for Grade One Orientation! Families gathered in the gym before being divided into three groups for a morning filled with fun, information, and opportunities to become familiar with their new school.
Students created a special “I Am Ready to Start Grade 1” crown, took a keepsake Polaroid picture, received a pencil and bookmark, and learned important information about school readiness and school procedures. Families also toured the building, visiting the hallways where classrooms will be located, specials, the nurse’s office, main office, cafeteria, and indoor and outdoor recess areas.
We were also happy to welcome representatives from our PTA, Scouts, and PAL, who shared information about the wonderful opportunities available to our students and families. The Peninsula Public Library joined us as well, providing library card applications and information about upcoming programs and events.
To top off a wonderful afternoon, each child received a delicious Kona Ice to enjoy at the end of the tour!
We are so excited to welcome our newest first graders to Lawrence Primary School and look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school, September 1st! We are ready for a wonderful year together!
