On Tuesday, October 29, we hosted our annual Literacy Night with students and families. There were engaging activities, fun games, and opportunities for students to explore new books. We even had an author visit from our very own Mr. Ahrens' parents- Tim and Carol Ahrens, authors of "The Owl in the Tower." The book tells the true story of an owl that lives at the top of the Jones Beach Tower throughout every season of the year.
This week, we also had a special visit from the Inwood Fire Department. October is Fire Prevention Month. Here at LPS, we are doing our part by learning more about fire safety and showing appreciation to our local fire department. We are thankful for the way they protect our community. Special thank you to firefighter Frank, Tommy, and Anthony for a great experience. Students even got to board the firetruck and see what it's like on the inside!
Chess Club continues on with the addition of our school scarecrow, Lucky Bob! Students have been learning the art of the game, the role of each piece, and having fun all at once!
Mrs. Lopeck’s 2nd grade class celebrated Candy Corn Day this week. Look at those festive hats!
Ms. Arleo’s 1st grade class carved a pumpkin and completed some candy corn Math to wrap up October!
Look at Ms. Brown and Ms. Saeli's students having fun with gross sensory centers!
