Two great days of seeing amazing art. Ms. Avallone took 2 of her classes to MoMA earlier in the fall. The students loved seeing the works of many famous Latino and Spanish artists.
Last week with her Spanish Language Arts class she joined Mrs. Ganes with her Advanced Art students to see the incredible Mexican prints exhibit and many other fabulous exhibits. Always an amazing day out with the students.
The Metropolitan Museum is a truly awesome experience. For many it was their first time at an art museum. It’s like going around the world in one day! Students got glimpses into 5,000 years of art. This time we began in the ancient sculpture galleries of Roman and Greek art. Then on to Buddhist art where we looked at the Mandala exhibit from ancient to modern. Seeing the Spanish classics of Picasso and El Greco also impressed our students. The Mexican Print show incorporated Spanish text into the posters and reflected the politics of the times. Our Art and Spanish students worked together to decode their meaning. On this trip the students had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in the areas of art analysis, Spanish and history.
