Special Education News 

April is Autism Awareness Month. It is a time to recognize individual differences and move towards inclusion, appreciation and acceptance of all people. It is a time to acknowledge uniqueness and celebrate the accomplishment of others. It is a time to show compassion. It is a time to be aware and to take action. Lawrence, please join the Life Skills classes to shine a light on Autism Awareness. Let’s “Light it Up Blue” by wearing blue shirts to school this Thursday, April 20th and next Thursday, April 27th. Please remember on these days as you pick out your clothing to choose something that is blue and to always choose kindness. 

News from the Nurse – Ms. Brooks 

ALL THOSE TWELFTH GRADERS WHO HAVE NOT SUBMITTED PROOF OF THEIR SECOND MENINGITIS VACCINE: YOUR DEADLINE IS Friday 4/21.  After that date you will be excluded from school and will not be permitted to participate in any Senior activities UNTIL I HAVE RECEIVED YOUR INFORMATION. 

For the 9th and 11th graders:  SCHOOL PHYSICAL DAY WILL EITHER BE 5/23.   If you are seeing the school doctor, then you must hand in the signed by your parents blank physical form by MAY 1st 

9th Grade Trip to the Bronx Zoo 

All 9th grade students are invited to the Bronx Zoo on Tuesday, May 2ndYou must complete a permission slip and have it signed by a parent or guardian by Friday, April 28th

Please pick up your permission slip in the lobby – in the AM or PM. Return to your homeroom teacher – 2nd period.

The night is almost here! The junior class will be hosting the annual talent show this Wednesday April 19th at 7pm in the auditorium ,admission is $5, see you there!

Music Department news- Mr Stabile 
 
Lawrence does it again! The following music students performed this weekend at the Eastman School of Music Concert Hall in Rochester, New York as members of the All Eastern Honor Ensembles. Stephanie Lopez sang in the treble choir and Matthew Sharin and Emma Urgen played in the Symphony Orchestra. These extraordinary ensembles were made up of the top musicians in the northeast- from Maine to Washington DC. They worked with nationally recognized conductors as they represent Lawrence high school. We are so proud of their accomplishments! 

Senior News – Guidance Department  

Last Call:  If you have not put your name on the cap and gown google form with your height. Please come to the guidance office at some point today and give the information to one of the secretaries to put in.  The order is being placed.  

If you live in Inwood there is a scholarship form from the Inwood Civic Association in the guidance office.  

There are a couple of scholarship application forms that are available in the Guidance office and many on the website.
