African American Club – Advisor – Mr. Avalos

Day 10 of Black Americans you don’t know, but should: Maria Williams. Maria Williams is credited as the first Black woman film producer for the silent crime drama The Flames of Wrath in 1923. Williams served as president of The Western Film Producing Company and Booking Exchange where Maria acted as a treasurer and secretary. Maria also worked as an assistant manager at the motion picture theater where her husband operated as general manager. Williams was a Kansas City school teacher who entered the political arena in the 1890s as a lecturer who traveled through the state of Kansas giving speeches for political candidates and delivering lectures on the "topics of the day." From 1891 to 1894, she was editor-in-chief of a weekly newspaper in Kansas City. Maria P Williams was the first black woman to produce, write and act in her own movie.Truly an icon.

Girls Varsity Basketball – Advisor – Mr. Supple
Congratulation to the Girls Varsity Basketball on a successful season. Thank you to everyone on the team who participated to make this season as enjoyable as possible. And a special congratulations to Andie Adams. On Saturday Andie scored her 1,000th career point, something only achieved by one other player in school history. Andie finished the season with 404 points! Congratulations to Andie
Battle of the Classes – Advisor – Mr. Walker
Battle of the classes is back! If you want to step up and represent your grade in battle of the classes come to room 331 to order your shirt. All orders must be on the google classroom. Classes will compete in soccer basketball Pin ball Tug of war and relay races. Step up and represent your grade!
Boys Wrestling –
"The Lawrence Wrestling team left it all on the mat with no regrets this weekend at the Nassau county championships. With 3 wrestlers in the tournament , 2  placed this weekend . Yasser Jimenez went above and beyond and rose to the occasion and earned a 6th place finish. Our other place winner Andres Valle took 4th after wrestling 8 matches in 2 days. 
This is the first time in 7 years a Lawrence wrestle placed at county’s. As a team we finished 22 out of 40 schools competing. Our best finish in 7 years.

Buskins – Advisor – Ms. Sales
Do you like to perform? Have you ever thought about becoming something or someone else? Or are you curious about acting? Well, now is your opportunity to take action! The Lawrence Buskins theatre is holding and informational for our upcoming production of SHAKE IT UP: a theatrical presentation featuring the works of William Shakespeare. Now, you may be saying well, I want to act, but I have no experience… Guess what, no problem! We all have to start somewhere. Here is your chance to learn, shine, connect and just have fun being and playing someone else. IF you are interested, please COME to our SHAKE IT UP INFORMATIONAL on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 16th from 2:50 to 3:50. NO experience necessary— just a desire to want to act and perform.
