Four Lawrence Students Invited to 2018 Long Island Psychology Fair!

Jece Abuan (12th)

Ariana Brown (12th)

Stacy Portillo (12th)

Bhawan Sandhu (10th)

Congratulations to the four Lawrence behavioral scientists who were named Regional Finalists, and invited to compete in the Ninth Long Island Psychology Fair, held at Roslyn H.S. on Thursday, January 11th: seniors Jece Abuan, Ariana Brown, Stacy Portillo & sophomore Bhawan Sandhu.

All four young researchers will present papers and PowerPoint slides before a panel of judges comprised of university professors and graduate students. Thirty projects - 20 individuals and 10 teams - were selected from among over 100 applicants from all over Long Island. Invitees present research in Social, Cognitive, Educational, Health, Developmental and Interdisciplinary Psychology.

Now in its ninth year, the Long Island High School Psychology Fair is a forum for the presentation and celebration of students' research in the field of psychology. Students present original empirical studies in Cognitive, Educational, Health, Social and Interdisciplinary Psychology sub-disciplines. The fair affords students an opportunity to present their work to an audience of their peers as well as a group of expert judges. Founded in 2008 by a group of local high school teachers, the purpose of the fair is to promote the empirical study of psychology and the sharing of such work between students.  The organizing committee consists of Great Neck South High School’s Michelle Sorise, Roslyn High School’s Allyson Weseley, and Lawrence High School‘s Stephen Sullivan.
