Congratulations to LHS senior Allen Green on being named a finalist in the ISWEEEP Energy Environment Engineering Competition, which will be held this year in Houston, Texas from Wed. May 3- Monday May 8.

The International Sustainable World (Engineering Energy Environment) Project Olympiad draws hundreds of the brightest STEM-focused students in the world together each year to compete in a fun and collaborative environment. Student scientists travel from approximately 70 countries, including the United States, to compete in ISWEEEP where their projects explore topics such as renewable energy, sustainable development and medical breakthroughs.

Allen created a cost-effective catalyst that increases the output power of a hydrogen fuel cell while also decreasing its susceptibility to carbon monoxide poisoning.  He has submitted a patent disclosure for his work and is being published in a professional journal, Materials Research Society Advances. Allen conducted his research at the Garcia Summer Scholars Program at Stony Brook University.
